"Mars crystal power, make-up!" being a reincarnation of the Princess of Mars, Hino Rei, transforms into Sailor Mars using either her transformation pen, crystal and or star power transformation wand.
Rei has a stand alone character. Among the original sailor soldiers, Rei is the only one whose religion is pronounced. Being a Shinto priestess, she is often on her own and has a strong character. The use of the ofuda (ward scrolls used against evils) is her expertise (even in her basic human form), and thus, she has a strong sense of bad spirits and good knowledge of the supernaturals.
She attends Brookdale Private School, a Catholic school, separate from the other soldiers and lives at the sacred temple of Hikawa Jinja in Japan.
She is very serious, stubborn and short-tempered (easily annoyed with Usagi's perky persona). Despite that, she never turned her back on the sailor soldiers. She is a good singer and song writer besides sailor venus, a talented skier, and a very determined individual.
Being a representation of the Mars planet, she wears a red costume with her long black hair and fire is her main power.
It was a fantasy-come-true for me, having played the Sailor soldiers for three times in a row now, more so with Sailor Mars. She used to be my favorite soldier when I was a little child, of course besides Sailormoon. I like her because of her hair and personality, specially that I could relate to her a lot.
The picture I have posted with this is my attempt on the fire planet soldier. I hope I was able to justify it somehow. (lols!) This was at the 2012 Toy Convention held in SM Mega Mall last Saturday, June 16. (Thanks to my workmate Pau for generously lending me her long black hair since I wasn't able to get the proper extensions.) **
